What sort of background checks do universities perform on new students?
Specifically, do they look to see if you attended any schools other than the ones you mentioned on your application and provided transcripts for?
Does Harvard, Stanford, other top MBA grad schools do background checks? What are my chances of getting in?
Hi,I got a misdemeanor for squealing my tires doing some burnouts in the parking garage on campus apparently they felt like the cement coating was damaged, they considered this criminal mischief even though there was no malicious intent to damage or deface property . Will this affect my chances of getting into a TOP MBA program like Harvard, Yale, Stanford? I've heard that some schools do check and others don't. I really don't want to wait an additional 2 years to get it expunged from my record before applying.Other than that my resume is flawless My GPA is 3.96 out of 4.0 and I have 2 Majors Econ International Business, 3 minors, 8 scholarships, completed study abroad, undergraduate research projects, successful internships, extensive work experience, excellent references etc.Any input would be greatly appreciated by those who have knowledge or experience in this area.Thanks.

Teacher background checks different from student teaching background check?
Hi everyone I am currently a student at UT in Austin Texas and will be graduating this December I did my student teaching at a local school district for 1 year and this past week a 3rd grade position opened up. The school interviewed me and 25 other people. Out of everyone, I was given the j3 years ago I was arrested for petty theft and the case was dismissed. It was a weird time in my life and I have moved on.I was honest in my all my university applications, district applications, and during my finger printing. It was never an issue.I have now applied for my Texas certificate and will be hearing from my districts HR on Wednesday for the final paper work. Now that I am considered an official teacher, will the background check be accepted like it was for the past year or will it now be looked at differently since I could be a payed employee. Also, how long does it take for a Texas certification to be issued online? I look forward to everyone's insight Thank you in advance
Are background checks done at random for AKA or must everyone complete one?
Are background checks done at random for AKA or must everyone complete one?I know some people who have gotten a letter from Nationals stating that they must submit $35 for a background check and others did not. Does that mean I do not have a chance at becoming an AKA this semester?
Do colleges do background checks on your parents?
my dad recently got a DUI and I am in the middle of applying to colleges. would the colleges do a background check on my dad? and if they do would the fact that he got a dui jeopardize my chance of getting accepted?
Do grad schools do background checks?
Im a little worried because Im supposed to be applying for grad school within the next year, but I recently got arrested and picked up 2 misdemeanor charges. I am currently working with my lawyer to get one of them dropped, and the other I might have to do deferred ajudication for a year, and afterwards my record can be expunged, which means it will be erased completely from my record. My question is, since Im applying to a grad program for psychology, which are all very competitive, does anyone know if they actually do background searches during the admissions process? Keep in mind, I have not been convicted of anything, so on an application I can still check no convictions. Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated
Do colleges perform criminal background checks before admission?
Last year 2010 I was convicted for " minor in possession of alcohol" . I was eighteen when the misdemeanor was committed so it's not a juvenile record type of offense. I'm applying to transfer to a four year university and the application is asking if I've committed any misdemeanors. I'm tempted to lie because I really don't want to be rejected but I'm wondering if colleges actually check this stuff. My major is international relations so it's not like I'm applying for an education or health major. Thanks
Do colleges do background checks?
I would like to apply to University of Oregon, Ohio, and California. I will be applying to colleges as a seventeen year old. My concern is the misdemeanor I have on my record that will be expunged when I turn eighteen. Do these schools do background checks? Will it significantly hurt my chances at getting into these schools?
Do colleges do complete background checks and see what all you do on the internet?
My science teacher said they do and I have been terrified since. I put stupid stuff on the internet when I was like 10 or 11 but I mean it was to try to learn because at that time I wanted to be a doctor and well it was the way of a 10 or 11 year old trying to get information. I want to go to a good college but now I am terrified that I won't get accepted because of what I did then. I am thinking about it right now and I get into a college at all. Can anyone tell me if a college will do a complete background check to see what you did when you were younger. And if they do, do they thoroughly look it over?Okay so little more. I want to apply for Harvard and Yale and Princeton. I mean I am 13 almost 14 but I have wanted to go there since I was little. Like 7 or 8 little.
Do public school's do pre-employment background checks?
I recently interviewed for an administrative position at a public school. I noticed the job announcement didn't mention a background check or drug screen. I checked the districts other open positions and none of them mention these screenings.Do school's do this before hiring new employee's? A little crazy if they don't.I'm in California.
What is a plea of abeyance? background check looks for what?
I went to my pre trial today for a misdemeanor B paraphernalia. My lawyer got me a plea of abeyance. So if I'm not caught again for the same crime for 12 months then it wont go on my record. I heard from others that it does go on my record and after the year than they basically destroy the evidence it was on their. i also heard that it does another thing where it says on the record pending, and when the abeyance period is over than it is switched to dismissal. both stated by 2 ppl workin the front desk at the courthouse. which is it?I am also applying for the Nursing program at Salt Lake Community College SLCC in Utah where i live. i heard it takes about a minimum of 2 yrs to get accepted into their program. the head nurse of the SLCC nursing program said they do background checks at hospitals but said the SLCC nursing program doesn't hold that misdemeanor against u. but hospitals may when they do a background check. im not sure what a background check looks at an arrest record or a conviction record or a criminal history? not sure if they are the same or not. So basically my question is if i pass my abeyance period 1yr does that show up on background checks? will that misdemeanor even show up after completing the plea of abeyance?i also called InterMountain Health Care Human Resources dept. and the lady said that ppl w worse records have been hired. she said felonies and when you lie on your application is when they dont hire you. She also said when applying just be honest and they interview you and you can explain ur situation.should i quit going to school. i have been going since i got outta high school in '08. almost got my Associates. but i dont want to continue school if i'm wasting $ and time because hospitals MIGHT not hire me based on a misdemeanor. also does financial aid do back ground checks only when you apply for aid or do they check periodically like monthly or somethin . i havent smoked weed since the incident and NEVER will so pls dont tell me 2 get my life on track. i'm already ahead of ya.
Criminal Background checks for nursing school?
Hi everyone ...My name is Ashley and I have applied for college starting the spring semester January 2010 . Its clear that there are several prerequisites that are needed first before application for the nursing program. Heres my question In the nursing program guidelines...they conduct criminal background checks for all accepted applicants. Back in 2007 I was convicted of attempted card fraud. I was young and stupid, but obviously cant change it now. Will this keep me from attending nursing school or should I continue with the program without hesitation? I would hate to take unnecessary courses if I will wind up changing my major. Please help and thanks everyone In response...I am over the age of 18. I am now 26. This happened around the age of 22 23. Ive consulted an attorney and they said bc it was a conviction, it CANNOT be removed. Please help guys and give me some advice
