Is it possible to become a teacher if you have a criminal record?
It has been my dream for a long time to teach high school and I recently was arrested for a minor possession charge. I realize this was a stupid decision on my part and do not need any answers telling me I shouldn't have made the mistake I understand that. My question is will this effect me getting into a teaching program in college and further down the road actually being hired to teach. Thanks in advance.

7 years ago my mother and i got into a fight and i was 17 and i was defending myself because my mother was abusive, but i went to jail got on probation and it got revoked. so i did a 60 day sentence and was convicted so its a convicted felony for family violence. Then in 2007 it happened again, she would call the cops on my every chance she got. I was put on deferred probation for 2 years and successfully completed it in 2008. I am wanting to go back to school but I was wondering what degree paths I should do since i have a criminal record i don't want to waste me time or money. I was trying to get my record expunged or sealed but im not eligible. Thanks

Teaching in the UK with a criminal record?? HELP!!?
When I had just turned 18 I very stupidly got a police caution for 'obtaining property by deception' It is something I have regretted ever since and I'm deeply ashamed of this Please don't say I shouldn't be a teacher because I'm a criminal because I can't explain how bad I feel about this I get A's and A for all of my exams and I have always wanted to be a secondary school science teacher By the time I qualify to full teacher status I will have been 8 years since the offence, Do you think this will seriously effect my chances of becoming a teacher? First of all I was put on a one year good behaviour bond when I was 16 for assault on police. I never broke the behaviour bond and am now 18. I was considering studying education at university but I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time.I'm also interested in one day becoming an English language teacher in Korea but I've been told that you need a clean criminal background and I was wondering if my idiotic actions when I was 16 will affect this.If it helps I'm Australian.

Nursing with criminal record?
Hello I have applied for an access to nursing course at a local college due to start this September. I m really worried that after I complete the course I won t be able to study at university or get a job as just over a year ago I received a police caution for ABH. I realise any violence is inexcusable but the crime was towards an unfaithful partner. Does anyone have any information about similar cases or know if this will affect my chances? Any responces would be much appreciated

When you are asked in a college application about your criminal record do you have to report being charged?

Do I apply to college with a criminal record?
I was arrested and charged with a misdemenor for retail theft earlier this year. I understand my stupid mistake and it was the first time I did this when it happened? Anyway, I want to apply to a college to get in by this fall but the application asks about being arrested. I took a class already having to do with what happened and I have court in June and it will be expunged in the fall. So the question is I dont know whether to take the chance and say no on my application? Or say yes and write an essay to them thats what it says I would have to do Or should I wait until this fall when my record is clear to apply even though i dont want to stay in community college any longer...? Im so confused please help?

Can my public college make me do things they do not ask of other students, based on my criminal record?
Hi...went to a local community college for a 2 year xray technologist program. I was asked to do a pre application to sit for the medical boards...all criminal and misdemeanor convictions need to be reported to the organization that administers the boards and a student has until 6 months prior to graduation to do so. However the dean of health wanted me to do a pre app. before school even started. I am disabled and 'alcoholism in remission" is part of my disability. I had a relapse in July 2011 and the dean of health dismissed me, saying that it was, in part, due to my not having done the pre application. I had communitcated with the organization who gives the boards and they said i had until 6 months prior to graduation. That time had not yet come when I was dismissed. The dean of health was disgusted and beside herself that I relapsed and needed to fish around for 'valid' reasons to dismiss me....do I have any rights here? I have already filed with dept. of edu OCR. Just wanted some opinions, ty Based on the one response I have received thus far, maybe I should clarify what I am asking I believe that all or any of Title II of the ADA, section 504 of the Rehab Act and Privacy Law of 1974 may have been violated by my college. It all began with asking things of me that were not asked of other students, based on info. in my CORI. Is it legal for a publicly funded college to use my CORI info. that way?? thanks for any input..., peace

I have a criminal record can i become a nurse still?
In 2004, I had a brake down and committed a criminal offence and was charged with criminal damage with intent. The judge was not harsh as i had mental health problems and let me off lightly, I have know enrolled on a college course and been accepted but will i be able to go into a career in nursing. Such as uni?. I also had burglary which was recent but had drug and Alcohol problems at the time. I have been to rehab and started to get my life sorted again and wish the start to give back to people instead of taking. I feel really scared as this is something that id like to do and it will be one of the little pieces of the Puzzle to rebuilding my life, any help with matter would be grateful

Does anyone know if a reversal on indictments remove a felony from your criminal record in nys?The person already has a reversal from some years ago but is facing a new case n I just want to know if the case that's been reversed can be used against him.
